No Child Stands Alone

POSTED: August 14, 2020Category: NewsBY: AISA Admin

AISA is proud of its legacy in providing resources to the international school community to bolster their efforts to provide a protective and safe environment for all children. Recent reports suggest that children face increased risks of harm as a result of the current pandemic prompting AISA, along with partners in the international school community, to strengthen efforts to keep children safe.

The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children’s (ICMEC) Global Educator Centre for Excellence has joined forces with the International Task Force on Child Protection to provide resources on how to prevent and respond to child abuse, neglect and sexual exploitation. Part of their mission is to train partners on the front lines, which includes educators.

The Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) is proud to announce that it now has two ICMEC endorsed child protection trainers. AISA’s Child Protection & Well-being Programme Manager, Chanel Worsteling and Dr. Funke Baffour-Awuah, Head of Counselling and Support at AISA member school, Al Rayan International School in Accra, Ghana, successfully completed a week-long ICMEC training and assessment programme. This will enhance AISA’s ability to provide quality assured context specific child protection training to member schools,

Both Ms. Worsteling and Dr. Baffour-Awuah plan to offer Level 1 child protection training to member schools in early 2021. They are also available to offer school training upon request.
