Supporting International School Counsellors During COVID-19

POSTED: April 7, 2020Category: ArticlesBY: AISA Admin

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a significant burden on international school communities as they work to manage the disruption, dislocation and isolation the virus has caused. Many school counsellors are struggling personally and professionally as they work to cope with the extraordinary demands that have been placed on them.

In order to address the immediate need for extra consultation and support, the Truman Group is offering short-term consultation groups for school counsellors around the world. Each group will be facilitated by an experienced Truman Group clinical staff member.

Participants

Groups will be composed of five to eight international school counsellors per group, who will remain together as a cohort for the six-week session.

Schedule and Timeline

Each group will meet for 90 minutes, once per week, at the same time, for a total of six weeks. Groups will meet between April 20th and May 29th.

Group Structure

These Support Groups provide professional consultation for difficult or complex cases; additionally, participants support each other personally as they manage the burden of providing care during a global emergency. Truman Group staff will provide a clinical perspective and assist with clinical resources when they are needed.
